I would like to add that I'm not a newbie. I have been repairing and programming computers since I am a highly experienced technician and I am extremely surprised that Microsoft stumped me this time. The very reason I don't have many posts is because I very rarely ever have to ask questions. Last edited: Feb 2, Chalk another one on the list.

My uncle in the Philippines just installed Win 7 on his Laptop and the same thing happened to him. The updates disabled the Realtek HD Audio. I am going to try to work him through installing the manufacturer's drivers, but I don't think it will work.

I'll post back to let you know how it goes I had a strange encounter with Windows 7 audio once and fixed it by uninstalling and removing my sound card and then running CCleaner to remove any left over Index. You can't remove your onboard sound obviously, but you may be able to uninstall it from device manager then reboot and disable it in your motherboards BIOS if possible you could try disabling the device in Device Manager as a last resort if your BIOS does not have an option to disable onboard sound.

Finally reboot and enable onboard sound again in the BIOS. Make sure to download a different version of Realtek drivers for Win 7 x64 from some where other than Microsoft, actually tell everyone to download all drivers from some where other than Microsoft. AnthraxPants , Feb 2, I have a feeling that this update haven't heard any complaints from anyone over here so I don't know what update you applied disabled your Windows Audio service.

If it isn't set it so that it automatically runs. If it's running, restart the service to see if it fixes the issue. Same thing happened to me, Problem is not fixed. Only way to get all speakers to work is to set the control panel to 7. Office Office Exchange Server. Not an IT pro? Script Center. Sign in. United States English.
